Use of Dewaxed Bleached
Shellac in Paper Varnishes
Enormous quantities of paper varnishes
are used annually for glazing paper wrappers, labels, display
cards etc. While shellac of sufficiently light colour is
comparatively expensive, where adhesion and high gloss are
imperative, it is an essential ingredient. Here is an
interesting paper varnish, comprising an aqueous solution of
shellac and casein. |

it. An antifoaming agent such as one of the proprietory
silicons and a preservative must be used.
